TBT: Thanksgiving 2015

December 3, 2015

I've been meaning to write this post for a while now, but well time got the best of me. I am starting to realize all the thing I have to be grateful and thankful for. Every day, not just on Thanksgiving. But I did want to flash back to a week ago, and share my thanksgiving with you. Many a times, every thanksgiving is different, usually because someone in our gigantic family goes on a trip or something or the sort. This year it was back to tradition: at my cousin's house. We usually do 2 turkeys and all the sides. But unfortunately there was a problem with the halal turkeys and so we swapped our turkeys for eight chickens. Plus all the sides: mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing, baked mac and cheese,  jalapeƱo cornbread, hawaiian sweet bread rolls, green bean casserole, grilled brussel sprouts, cranberry sauce, and yummy gravy. For dessert: Pumpkin, apple, and pecan pie. Along with brownies, cheesecake, vanilla and coffee ice cream, and an absurd appropriate amount of whipped cream.
After shoving our faces with yummy goodness, it was time for the best tradition of all. Everyone in our family gathers in the living room and we start from youngest person all the way to the eldest (or to spare embarrassment once it gets to a certain age, just go around in a circle) and say three things we are thankful for. Once it gets to my cousin's kids, it gets more emotional, sentimental, and heartfelt.

Many of you may be wondering what I am thankful for this year, so read no further, here is what I am thankful for this year: First and foremost, my faith. Because of my faith, in the past year I have learned that God always has a plan and second chances for me. And HE has given me these second chances since the day I was born. {I was a premature baby}. And 21 years ago, HE saved me, because has a plan for me. Because of this second chance at a life,
my relationship with my parents this past year has grown so much and I couldn't be more grateful for that. My siblings like always have been my rock and motivation.
A year ago, I didn't have many friends or any confidence whatsoever. But once I came to UH, another second chance at college, I have received an amazing college experience where I meet new people all the time and have developed amazing friendships. Friendships, that I can't imagine my life without.
There is so much I have to be thankful for this year, I am blessed, I can definitely say that.

Take a look at some of my Thanksgiving photos, from family to fashion to endless food!
