Top 15 Moments of 2015

January 15, 2016

Everyday I am grateful, but today I am even more grateful because it's the day I was born. I was born 2 and 1/2 months early, and suffered a brain hemorrhage the day after I was born. Doctors said there was little to no hope for me. If I did somehow miraculously survive I would live a life full of mental and physical disabilities. 22 years later, I am happy to say I don't have any of those problems and live a full, happy, healthy life. I truly am blessed, so I am looking back at the year highlighting my personal top 15 moments of 2015, in order of when they happened!

My life literally changed in January as I began a new chapter, at a new University. I was really nervous about being a transfer student, and not fitting in, a problem I have always had. But, because I was in the business school I was able to connect with people who had similar goals as I did.

I was truly honored to be a sponsor for a sweet girl, I went to high school with. She is two years younger than me, and reached out to me to take her Miss Teen Houston, Intl. 2015 pageant photos and headshots. I was then honored to be her sponsor!

During, what I would later learn is Rush Week, {Where organizations recruit} I was captivated by AMA and attended their first orientation meeting. I paid my dues that same night and became a member. That same night, I went to my first of many socials, with what would become my new fAMAly. I met a two great people that night, and little did I know, they would change my life {read on to find out who}

I was also really lucky to be accepted into Bauer Ambassadors, a great organization at school. Then, after the first meeting of AMA, I was selected to be the head communications committee leader for someone I am happy to now call one of my closest friends, Austin.

I quickly remembered meeting a girl named Nicole at the AMA orientation, and well, I'm so happy to say today she's my best friend. She is by far the sweetest girl I have ever met. She has the biggest heart and is so humble. Little did I know, she would be the one there for more to literally wipe away my tears, hold me, encourage me, and laugh with me. She also introduced me to one of my other really close friends, Megan. I am also so lucky to have Austin and Brad!

I ended being one of the top 5 members of the Spring 2015
 semester for Bauer Ambassadors. This means, most active!

After just one semester of being a committee leader, I was given the title of 'Director of Communications' on the AMA Executive Board

I was lucky to land an internship, let alone with Mattress Firm, the largest mattress retailer! I was a Sales Management intern for 12 weeks, and it was definitely a life changing experience. I learned so much, grew a lot, and made great friendships. Through this internships, I found my dear friend Jamie who is simply amazing and so kind.

After leading a team of 6 and succeeding in a corporate sponsor project. This company saw the drive in me and wanted to bring me on board. So, they created a position for me, and I serve as the liaison between the business school and the company and am helping them strengthen their presence on campus!

Fall semester means, football! I loved going to game days in red and my cowgirl boots!

The fall semester proved to be a bit more difficult than the one before. But I quickly learned what I could and could not handle. But more importantly, what I wanted to handle. I realized that if I had the opportunity to remove something negative or someone negative from my life, I had the option to do it, and that's exactly what I've been doing!

Thanksigving was held at my cousins and I helped her plan it for 2 weeks. We talked on the phone at least times a day about the growing guest list {35 people total}, the addition of sides, and much, much more.

In October, I participated in #OctPoWriMo, it's 31 poems in 31 days and this was my third year! I tried to incorporate a piece of photography with each piece, and it made me realize just how much I missed writing, and I love having the passion back. Whether it's writing on my blog for you guys or in a journal just for myself.

I was nominated and won 'Best Dressed' in AMA at the Fall Banquet, and the best part? I won it the Spring too! #Goals.

I am really happy that my family and I were able to go to Jersey over the holidays and spend time , with my aunt, uncle and, cousins. We went to Philly, and NYC, and of course were in the South Jersey area. It was a relaxing, yet fun and adventurous trip! It was fun wrapping up the year surrounded by so many loved ones!

2015 was great, and I cannot wait to see what 2016 has in store for me!
